Additional Resources

Here are four interesting places that you might want to poke around in to find critical inquiries and analysis on popular culture:

Adbusters Magazine: Journal of the Mental Environment

Bitch Magazine: A Feminist Response to Popular Culture – This magazine is also based out of Portland.  They have a variety of events and book clubs that happen here locally.

Cultural Studies Association

Portland Center for the Humanities – This organization is housed at PSU and, “promotes rigorous humanistic inquiry into the languages, histories, and ideas that shape our ways of life, as well as those that offer a means of positively transforming them.”  Many of their events connect in one way or another to popular culture.  I would highly encourage you to attend an event over the course of the term.
